THE PROBLEM

The client's checkout was loading in 4.2s on mobile. Conversion was tanking. The existing Shopify theme was packed with unused apps, redundant JS, and no edge caching. Every 100ms of latency was costing money.

THE SOLUTION

We built a custom Next.js storefront with a headless Shopify backend. Product pages were statically generated with ISR. Checkout ran through Edge Functions. Redis cached inventory and cart state. Zero legacy app overhead.

THE OUTCOME

Checkout loads in 1.3s. Mobile Lighthouse went from 41 to 97. Conversion rate improved in the first 30 days. The client has since retired their Shopify theme entirely.
